We recently visited this ancient building & were very impressed with its interior, especially the spiral staircase which gives access to the first floor where there are interesting things & items to see, well worth a visit.

I have been in the building industry for over 50 years so Moot Hall’s brickwork especially the reversed spiral staircase was of great interest.
The tour guides Susan & Jackie painted a wonderful picture of the history associated with the building and surrounding area.
They also pointed out the graffiti left by prisoners in the exercise yard , the flintlock rifle was of particular interest.
I was also impressed with the oak furniture dragons head armrest to chair, & the Medullary Ray oak grain to table reserved for the finest furniture.
The view from roof was spectacular and the ladies were a font of knowledge on the surrounding buildings.
Many thanks

This interesting building can be found nearly at the top of the High Street, it is a very historic building with beautifully constructed red brick walls, it has a splendid circular staircase, with many more interesting features, well worth a visit.

A fabulous hidden gem. Steve (Our good-humoured guide) gauged our level of interest perfectly and gave us a detailed history and tour. The brickwork is a marvel of detail. The view at the top was unexpected.
Thanks
Chris and Rosalind.

Fascinating piece of local history which I knew nothing of until recently. Great tour by Steve and Jane both of whom made the visit great fun. Definitely worth a visit.

I took a group of U3A members there in November who were fascinated by the history and the architecture of the place. The view from the roof is breathtaking, but oh so cold up there. Luckily there is a Weatherspoons just down the road for a warm up and a hot meal!. The guides were very interesting, helpful and full of knowledge about the place.

This tour of Moot Hall was an absolute delight. Four of us were guided through the premises by JOHN LYNN and his vivid descriptions of the Hall’s use over the centuries were very interesting. Excellent value.

We arrived just in time for a 1 hour talk with slides on Maldon architecture from the Medieval to the 19th century.
We then came out and went upstairs to the first floor, a chapel with a balcony.
Lovely views.
Up to the 2nd floor, the old council room.
I then climbed the spiral stairs to the roof and went outside for even more spectacular views of the area.

This ancient red brick building can be found adjacent to the florist. It is not always open, but if you do find it open it is well worth a visit. There is a beautiful red brick circular staircase within its walls which leads to the upper floors, were you will find interesting artifacts which relate to this old hillside town & the surrounding areas. This place is well worth a visit.

I was surprised at all the history in the one central location. Our guide was well-informed and easy-going. Definitely worth the money and a great way to acclimate oneself to the interesting past of this seaside town. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the stair climbing, but if you're fit and younger than me, you won't mind. The final view from the rooftop was quite amazing.
