We stopped here briefly before visiting the nearby Eden Hall. We popped in for a couple of drinks and throughly enjoyed it. The landlord was really friendly, chatty and witty. We ended up chatting to the locals and there was a really nice atmosphere even to outsiders like us. Worth a visit if you’re in the area

This has to be one of the friendliest pubs in Nottingham!!! Fabulous food, fabulous service,fabulous atmosphere. Loved every minute. Thankyou to all the staff and Grahame the landlord is one of the best!!!

Excellent Food. One of the best turkey dinners that I have eaten.

A group of 9 of us enjoyed an evening meal at The chequers last night. The pub has been beautifully decorated, looks so festive and welcoming. We enjoyed drinks downstairs in a cosy bar area and then moved upstairs for our meal. We were well looked after by George who was very attentive and had a delightful manner. We all enjoyed a variety of food from the excellent menu. The food was beautifully presented and excellent. The choice was really good and covered everyone's needs. I am a regular visitor to our wonderful pub and would recommend it to everyone. Thank you Graham.

Would Highly Recommend The Chequers inn Elston ,Sunday lunch was fantastic.
Excellent Service all round ,plenty of car park space ,but we walked there and also they allowed our Dog inside too.

The Pub is really nice downstairs and the restaurant upstairs.
We were served quickly at the bar and offered to order our meal whilst we drank our drinks.
Graham approached and kindly offered us to go in the Restaurant slightly early, as they had a table of 9 arriving at the same time.
I had Fish and my husband had a Sunday Roast. The meal was served timely, the quality of the food to a very high standard.
The Staff were all very professional and helpful
and we will definitely return again.

Was really hoping having read the other reviews and living in close proximity that this would be a far better experience.
Staff appeared inexperienced. We had children with us and were not offered a kids menu. Drinks order took longer than expected and other tables that arrived after seemed to be prioritised. Food arrived with a hair on one of the mains (straight away in front of the waiter) and 3 of the children’s meals had varied portion sizes of chips (same meal ordered). The children recognised it and started to argue. In fact the adult portion had half of the kids. Staff did not recognise/apologise for the hair.
Requested Coke Zero and Pepsi was served without any explanation. The Pepsi was probably double the size of the Fanta that we ordered. Again, the children noticed. During the meal, the staff did not offer any condiments/check in.
The Sunday dinner lacked substantial roast potatoes and there were large lumps in the mash (so we couldn’t eat it).
Plates and cutlery were dropped on guests and it appeared other tables were experiencing similar problems.
The refurb looks great and the chairs were really comfy but the staff lacked leadership and unfortunately resulted in the conclusion that we would not be coming back.

Visited The Chequers with friends on Friday evening. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and attentive service. Thoroughly recommended :-)
