Behind the Scenes at its Best

The behind the scenes tour of the Spitfire restorations was a fascinating experience. A great insight into the craftsmanship and skills of the team recreating these iconic aircraft. Austin gave an excellent account of both the historic and current aspects. I highly recommend this unique place.

A fabulous Biggin Hill experience

We experienced the basic hangar tour today with Austin and it was probably my best ever birthday presents. The tour overran and happily so - Austin is so passionate and knowledgeable and clearly puts his heart and soul into his labour of love for this airfield and aircraft. Very entertaining and humorous too. I am now seriously considering a flight in a Spitfire too, Austin was keen to let us see some arranged flights take off and taxi back. Thank you so much, long live The Heritage Hangar!

Memorable experience

I was with my two American daughters (we are from Canada) and my father.

Austin was our guide for the Hangar Tour and he was so good. We loved the details, the stories, the obvious respect he has for the veterans, and his humour. We even saw three Spits fire up and take off, as well as a BF109 and a Hurricane in the hangar.

An experience unlike anything else, to get so close to the world's greatest flying machine. You could hear and smell the Merlin as it fired up!

The ONLY drawback is to find it as it is not signposted at the roundabout or entrance. You have to enter the private road then go all the way around to the back.

I attended the Technical Tour yesterday which I thoroughly enjoyed and found so interesting. The guides were very knowledgeable and have encouraged me to start saving for a Spitfire Flight for my retirement!

Amazing tour and Austin was a very informative and humorous guide.
Tour was brilliant but icing on the cake was watch several spitfires taking of and landing from their flight experiences.
I am afraid the kids inheritance money will be going out the window, the flight is top of my husbands bucket list😂😂 definitely worth a visit would certainly recommend ❤️ Thanks again Austin and will bring you a decent curry from a Brum 🥘👍🏽👍🏽

Amazing day at Bigginhill

On Sunday my dream came true flying in a world war 2 Spitfire I can honestly say it was jaw dropping amazing I was even able to take control and fly the Spitfire myself for a while what an honour, the history of such a iconic aeroplane blew me away I cannot stop thinking and smiling about it.
The staff were fantastic every single one of them was so friendly and helpful and Barry the Spitfire pilot was very calming and guided me through the controls and made the dream come true even did 3 rolls and not a sick bag in site lol, I know how lucky I’ve been and will never forget such a experience thank you all at War birds Spitfire . Com

I have lived and breathed aviation since I was a child. Seeing several Spitfires in various stages of construction was pure heaven. I have read countless books about the Spitfire and the Battle of Britain. Our tour guide Austin blew me away with his knowledge on the subject. He explained everything with wit and humor and could easily dive deep when I had a technical question. Stopped at a pub in the lovely countryside on the way home with our new friend/cabbie Colin and had a pint. You can knock this out in half a day when your other half wants to go shopping in London.
