Chitkul is the last village of India on the Tibet border and is an uncharted place. It's a small quaint village with peace loving and chatty people who like to welcome all visitors with a smile. Its surrounded on all sides by the mighty snow capped Himalayas while the Baspa river flows by its side. The silence of the valley is broken by little gushes of wind and the constant flowing sound of Baspa. Other than that this place is a place for Zen and inner peace. If you want to spend some time with yourself away from hustle bustle and need to reflect within amid nature.. this is the place.

Chhikul is the last village of India. It is definately a must visit as well as a place to spent a night . You won't regret it!It is a very beautiful place with snow cladded mountain, lush green valley & river .This place has a different kind of vibe altogether. Very different from other places in the Kinnaur area. Their is a checkpost of India Tibetan border 4 km away which one can visit.

Chhitkul is the last village on the Indo-Tibet border. Chhitkul is really one of a kind. It is t heaven for a true nature lover. You will definitely fall in love with Chhitkul once you come here.

It is a small village situated in Sangla Valley, at the bank of River Baspa. On the other side of the river there is forest area under The Rakchham-Chhitkul Wildlife Sanctuary.

You can enjoy trekking or hiking through the pine and deodar forest and the lower mountain. Just sit along the bank and enjoy the Baspa flowing with rapid current. If you are fortunate enough you can experience snowfall too ! Beside the natural attractions, there are Mathi Temple, Gupt Raj Temple, Buddhist Temple and Chhitkul Fort to travel around in a walking distance.

A number of budget friendly good hotels and camp-sights are there for your stay. A full day is enough to enjoy Chhitkul.

This was my second visit to Chitkul and what an amazing place it turned out to be again. Very unexplored, raw and authentic. Love the scenery there and the flowing river is awesome.
I'm simply in love with this place. The only thing is that the place doesn't have too many good stay options - very basic hotels & basic food. So, don't go there if you are used to 4 or 5* facilities.

Post pandemic and lockdowns.. We decided to move out of city and spend some time in mountains and work from there.. Chitkul was always on our mind.. But due to limited connectivity we choose weekend to visit our wish.. Surprisingly connectivity has really improved but limited to BSNL... Approach was difficult but totally worth it. The pictures available online does no justice to The beauty the place offers.. The serenity is unmatched.. We stayed at Samaa Resorts and that was the best choice.. We felt very safe there as they adapted all safety measures required due to corona.. Walking around.. Sitting by the river and admiring the mountains around ...is the memory that is etched in our hearts and we definitely want to visit the place again..!

Chitkul is one place which is a true haven of adventure lovers. The narrow road that connects Karcham to Chitkul is only about 52 kilometres but after Sangla it passes through some of the most pristine forests, in India. Further beyond Sangla there is no Internet or mobile connectivity or a fuel station. Even at Sangla availability of fuel is patchy. So tank up and carry extra fuel if you are going to Chitkul. Road conditions too worsen after Sangla. However, after a back breaking what you get in Chitkul, is a glimpse of heaven. The quaint village is a haven for those who love nature. It can be too cold for comfort for some. Also once you reach Chitkul, rest for the remaining part of the day. Chitkul is located at 11,300 ft above sea level so control your excitement. From Chitkul you can walk down to the Baspa river and even visit the last ITPB checkpost (photography is not allowed there). Hindustan ka aakhri dhaba is another place to go. It's a humble eatery run by a lovely couple. Apart from that sit down and enjoy different hues of nature at this magical place.

Chitkul is a village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border. The Indian road ends here. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitants move to lower regions of Himachal.
The Road from Karcham to Chitkul is very narrow But once you reach there its Beautiful and you will forget the tough and nervous drive.
The accommodation in Chitkul is very limited. Take walks on the bank of Baspa river or trek in the valley and enjoy nature.
Best time to visit Chitkul is May-June but we visited Chitkul in December.
The people of Chitkul are simple and mainly engaged in Buckwheat cultivation and Cattle grazing. I dreamed of visiting Chitkul since I heard about it a few years back and the drive is worth.

Chitkul is a small Village in Baspa Valley located about 40 Kms from Karcham Dam and around 180 Kms from Narkanda, Himachal pradesh. The Road from Karcham to Chitkul is very narrow and steep almost gaining 2500 Meters of Altitude in 40 Kms. But once you reach there its Beautiful and you will forget the tough and nervous drive. Chitkul is in a valley by the side of Baspa river and surrounded by snow clad peaks presenting Amazing views. The scenic beauty of Chitkul is oly has to be seen and and no photo or video can do full justice. This and the trough drive to the village attracts hundreds Driving enthusiasts to this tiny helmet, The accomodation in chitkul is very limited. Take walks on the bank of Baspa river or trek in the valley and enjoy nature. There is a ITBP Check Post about 4 Kms from Chitkul, beyond which no one is allowed to walk or drive. The road to the checkpost is only of gravel, but most visitors to visit the checkpost. The Tibet border is around 90 Kms from here and no habitation beyond Chikul, hence the Last Village in India. I heard it was a trade route between Himachal and Tibet in past and Chitkul is the first Village for travellers coming from Tibet. The people of Chitkul are simple and mainly engaged in Buckwheat cultivation and Cattle grazing. I dreamed of visiting Chitkul since I heard about it a few years back and the drive is worth.

It's just a small hemlet with may be less than 100 odd houses but the beauty surrounding it is mind blowing... I would recommend to have a stay in tent at Bapsa river if u are young and can bare chilling wind.. Beauty near Bapsa river is just fabulous. But if you can't bare chilling wind then don't opt for tents as these tents are basic and rather have a stay in some hotel or even hostel as options there are very limited. The hotel/hostels are on upper side and river is at down though there are hardly any distance.

The best time is summer that is may-june. Even in May June one should expect chilling winds and occasional snow fall leading to near zero temperature at night.

November to January are freezing cold and I doubt this hemlet can offer any reasonable medical assistance in case of emergency.

Still I would recommend staying at least one night in chitkul in summer and have morning walk near Bapsa river. People sometimes stay in kharcham or sangla and makes day trip to this place but in such case one can see the beauty but won't be able to have a feel of that place.
