저같은 여성들이 좋아한다는 유후인 온천. 후쿠오카에서 버스로 이동을 했구요, 유후인 역까지 주인장 Kaz상이 픽업을 나와 주었습니다. 남편이 예약을 하였을때는 객실이 2개라고 했는데, 객실을 하나 더 만들고 있다고 하였어요~ 작지만 하나하나 주인장의 정성이 가득합니다. 직접 만들었다는 노천탕, 그리고 Kazさん의 핸드드립 커피. . . 저녁식사는 '지도리나베' 였는데 국물이 끝내줘요~!! ㅋ ㅋ 그리고 현관앞에는 애완용 돼지 "쥬시" 가 인기가 많은데, 딸램이랑 한참 만지고 쳐다봤네요~
어찌나 털이 고슴도치같이 뾰족뾰족한지. . ㅎ ㅎ 하지만 온돌에 익숙한 한국사람에게 겨울에는 방이 좀 추울수가 있어요. 물론 방안에 히터가 있기는 한데 히터를 틀면 너무 덥고 조절하기는 쉽지는 않았네요 그래도 기억에 많이 남는 '토키노카케라 (시간의 조각)' 이었답니다~^^ 참고로 여기는 료칸이 아니고 민슈쿠 (민박) 이라고 생각하셔야해요!

Don't expect a ryokan nor a hotel, it's a house stay with 2 bedrooms situated on the country side (20min walk from the JR Yufuin station) with a few chickens and a rooster walking free around the house. Stayed on the 1st floor bedroom (not finished in construction), no private toilet, no private wash basin (only ice cold water) and shower is shared in a small inside "onsen" approx 3x2m space, shampoo and douche gel available for use. The sharing part was not mentioned on website or hotel booking sites. Room is not being cleaned (stayed 4 nights), bin not being emptied, no clean towels provided and all spaces are a bit dirty, especially the hallway and staircase full of dust and hair. There is no key to lock the room. House is bad isolated against the cold resulting a terrible draft going through every space and corner. Spaces without a heater, its hard to bear the cold eg wash basin space, toilet, hallways and change room in the outside onsen bath. We had to wear our jacket all the time in the house. Pro's are the cosy living/dinner room, free wifi, Japanese dinner (YEN 1500pp) and breakfast which are prepared by foreigners who is learning and experiencing the Japanese agri-culture, nice walk to the station along the country side landscape, free drop off and pickup to the station available. Owner is a friendly young man who speaks adequate English but not able to provide much touristic information, not even a proper explanation or route map how to walk to the station. Suggest you better go to the tourist information center to ask your way out here. The ground around the house is under construction and the house is not well maintained. If I knew upfront what to expect I would definitely not stay here in regards to price versus quality (€120pn).…

We spent 4 nights at Toki no Kakera, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Like previous reviewers have said, Kaz, the owner, has put a lot of hard work and love into this place. In all honesty, Kaz is what makes TnK what it is. It was great to have someone around who knew the area (and spoke fluent english), and who was totally down with hanging out and shooting the breeze with us. Kaz keeps a whole menagerie of animals on the farm, chickens, cats (Nyan-san and Nahanaha), a pig (Juicy) and a goat (Pina), and they are all wonderful and friendly. Take a walk at night to hear a symphony of frogs and see dancing fireflies. If you're willing to try something a little different and be a part of the 'family' at TnK you really wont regret it. Our room was quite big (even by western standards) and the rotenburo (outdoor bath) was a nice touch. A little frog took a bath with me :) Kaz's cooking is great, with fresh eggs straight out of the chicken. The only warning we'll leave you with: if the roosters don't wake you up at 6am, the town alarm will (it also goes off at noon and 5pm), but it's all part of life off the beaten track in small town Japan.…

あまりリピートしないのですが珍しく3回も訪れてしまいました。 その理由はただただ子供がとっても気に入っているから☆ 初めての時はどこもかしこもお高い湯布院でお手頃に泊まれる所を探していて、なおかつなんだか面白そうなこちらのお宿を見つけての宿泊でした。 オーナーさんがお若い方で臨機応変に対応して下さったりサービスして下さったり•••色々と試行錯誤して頑張っていらっしゃる感じが伝わってきて応援したいなという思いもあったり…☆ 食事も手が掛けられている感じでおいしかったですし…。 今回は、、、動物の種類が減ってしまって少し残念でした。それでも子供はすっごく楽しめたようでしたが(^_^) 食事も以前とは変わっていました。以前の方が手間がかかってる感じで良かったなぁ… 朝食もおにぎりに湯布院のお野菜たっぷりが好きでした(T_T) 今回も美味しかったんですけどね。特にスープとクロワッサンが好評でした。 立地の評価を低くつけてしまいましたが送迎もして頂けますし、このお宿を楽しむのに立地は関係ないと思います♡ 今のところ由布岳も見られますし、蛍も見られますし、またヤギさんを飼われたらお散歩にも行けますしね♪ 大分へ行く時はまたきっと宿泊すると思います(^-^)そうしないと子供が泣きわめいて大変なことになりそうなので…(^_^;

After staying at a high priced Ryokan for 1 night, we had to scale down so i booked a room for 4 people at "Secret Base - Toki No Kakera" for 1 night. This place was 3 times cheaper, but with no dinner. a great price and the location is 5mins drive (west) from the train station. Suggest you wake up early and drive around to check out the beautiful view of the mountains and paddy fields (expect to see houses and roads also). Kaz, the owner, is a laid back / cool / friendly guy and he can speak really good english (plus points). You can tell that he put in a lot of hard work and love on his place. What i like most about here is its homey homestay feel. another plus is the animals; Mostly chickens, a smart pig, and a cat. Love the pig. Wish i had more time to play with him. They have a shared Onsen tub (around 5m x 8m). nothing fancy but did the job. you cant really go wrong with soaking in a hot spring water outdoor onsen. i highly recommend this place if u're an easy going person / group and u're looking for friendly Ryokan.…
