Our group has camped here each year for the past 5. Clean facilities which include flushing toilets and hot showers, shady or sunny campsites, fire rings, picnic tables, water taps scattered around the grounds and a washup area, 5 sinks with hot and cold water, peace and quite and tucked away from the wind. No rubbish bins however only a short drive to the rubbish disposal area. Give it a go, you wont be disappointed.
We spent 4 nights here as a group of 4. The sites we a good size and well marked. It was easy to get around and the paths were well marked. The toilets and showers although clean were a bit old and the $2 meters for the showers were a bit hit and miss, sometimes you were cut off halfway through even though you had put several coins in. The campsite is situated on a quieter part of the island which we found nice for taking walks in the surrounding area.
We chose this spot because we heard it was a lovely area, there were clean showers & toilets, phone reception and some good old fashion camping! We’re a family a 5 ( 2 adults 3 kids *7,13,15) Upon arrival we discovered no phone reception at all ... not a big deal until our car broke down on the second day. My son went to the ranger station to ask for help as we needed a spanner. The ranger who was on a power trip that day refused to help, we asked to use the phone so we could All for help, he said the office had no phone, we asked what are we suppose to do hoping he would suggest something .. anything ... He said ‘ go and stand on a sand dune and scream help or better yet start walking!’ The next thing was a camper come and help us and suggested even though there is no generators in the camp, popping the batteries on a small low noise generator to see if that started the car ... The same ranger ‘Mr Powertrip’ told us to turn it off. This was at 1.30pm hardly an campers where at their camps, we told him and clearly can see we are trying to start the car! Nop has to turn it off! The next day a new ranger approached us and told us a family member tried to call us ... I asked um how u guys don’t have a phone in the office .... he was shocked and answered yes we do and it works just fine! So thanks to the dark looking ranger with the goatie on the massive power trip, you not only left us in a panic but you offered no help at all. And because of this it’s now made me think twice about ever coming to Fraser Island again. Oh and make sure u take $2 coins for the showers because on the advert I read it said $1 coins only! …
