I stayed overnight at the Town Line Motel on March 24, 2014. I was in room 32 in the newer annex because the main building was closed for the season like the nearby Ft. Roobinson National Park accomodations..
he room was large and had a King-sized bed, a round table with two chairs, a small fridge and a TV. The bathroom was spotless and had good water pressure. The toilet flushed properly. The light fixtures all worked. There was a large window with a view of a pretty evergreen shrub that has grown up to just above the window sill.
The price was right and the room was nice. I would recommend this motel for travelers on a budget who still want to be comfortable in a cozy warm room.

There are only 2 hotels in crawford, this is one of them just a minute or two down the road from the other. Reality is, everything in crawford is old, dusty, outdated, etc...There is no getting around that (other than going to a different nearby town or something). As far as this hotel, it was a place to sleep. My husband and I stayed in the "newer" part of the hotel. This was separated and behind the main part of it. I was glad that this room was relatively "clean" and it did not smell as bad as I expected (after I read the reviews here). But there were some downfalls...
Main power switch for room didn't work. The outlet with the coffee pot / TV shorted out somehow and we had to run the power cord to the TV into the bathroom and use an outlet there whenever we wanted to watch TV. There was hardly any water pressure in the bathroom so I chose to skip my showers. But the tub had a gross looking stain in it too so... I was ok with it. Also the washrags in the bathroom were pretty shredded up.
My husband and I didn't even unmake the bed and just slept right on top of the comforter (our Preference). We had found an extra blanket in a drawer to use as a cover. This blanket had a faint "dusty" smell to it, and numerous cigarette burns in it.
Oh yea, can't forget about the mouse we found in our trashcan. The mouse was alive, rattling the trash liner in the middle of the night and woke us both up. My husband took the trashcan outside and dumped the live mouse into the nearby bushes. But it sounds like the other hotel in this town has mice issues as well.
The main office is a complete dive, and was suppose to be open at 7am. On the morning we were suppose to check out, we ended up leaving the key in the room as the front office was not open yet, and this was closer to 8 am. But the guy who checked us in was nice and helpful.
So the golden question is: "Would I stay here / recommend to stay here again?"
It would not hurt my feelings if I didn't stay here again. But I would not stay at the other hotel either. If you are desperate for a place to sleep, then it is probably OK. It has air conditioning, bathroom and bed. But if I ever make it out in that area again, I may just stay in Chadron or the next closest town / camping area, etc...
Cost of room - seemed a little "high". It maybe because of the area, lack of customers. But in my hometown, I can pay $35 a night for the same size room, all the outlets work, the sheets aren't "dusty" smelling and there are no mice in my trashcan :)

lobby ceiling was falling down due to water damage, the whole property is run down, no water pressure, stains in the bathtub wall outlet that the TV was plugged in to stopped working we had to plug it in the the bathroom vanity to get it to work. spiders in the bathroom spider nests under the bed, woke up hearing a rustling in the middle of the night and found a live mouse in the trash can. I picked up the trash can and threw it outside, burn holes in blankets the size of a quarter. front desk was not open the next morning so could not complain not that it would do any good ended up just leaving the key in the room and just left after the two nights I paid for. Try the hilltop motel might be better or better yet go to Fort Robinson 3 miles outside of Crawford.

What you see when you drive into the parking lot is what you will get on the inside: dilapidated, run-down, tired looking, and uncared for property. Beyond the lukewarm hospitality receieved at the front desk, it is all downhill from there. I am not exaggerating when I say we had a 10 year old child with us begging to let him sleep in the car. We rented 3 rooms and these were the common features in each room: dirty, out-dated bathrooms with used bars of soap, crumbling shower stalls, stale smells, unclean beds with hair, dusty, holes in blankets and towels, and extremely outdated decor. A poor night's sleep was had by all due to the rooms themselves and the railroad tracks with trains passing every 15 minutes. The only positive were the well-functioning AC units. We could have overlooked some of this had we not paid $66 per night! Our recommendation, skip the Crawford hotels and stay at Ft. Robinson!!
