A decent bed and a reasonable breakfast are a start. The mattress was old and tilted down on the side closest to the main floor space meaning you rolled away from the centre of the bed feeling you’ll roll off. Breakfast consisted of toast and yogurts. The bathroom needed TLC to say the least. Won’t be back. Gave feedback and a pretence of measuring the bed to replace the mattress was made whilst packing. Doubt anything will happen.
We miss the host Susanna very much who has given us a homey welcome and shared a great deal of useful traveling information. In addition, the information she provided for Isle of Harris has led us to discover a number of stunning beaches and Finsbay where a good number of seals were seen playing around at a close distance. That became a highlight of our holiday. The room size is moderate, but the heaters are very reliable with the level of heating easily adjusted. The shower was good too. Continental breakfast was good. Susanna encouraged the use of the breakfast room for takeaway which we did on one occasion. The microwave oven was a bonus too. It is 12 minutes walk to the harbour where most restaurants are located. Do note that the property has some age and the decor is consistent with this. It is not perfect but is rated in light of the price level.…
I think my average rating is being quite generous. Compared with other places, this is cheap accommodation but it's quite depressing. The place needs updating. The bed was clean and comfortable but the decor had sticky tape residue on and the whole place just felt very tired and lacking something. We nearly didn't go in on arrival but had cycled a long way and needed to rest desperately. The chap booking us in was nice.
If you want to have a quiet place before leaving the island this the perfect place. Alan the owner gave us a very nice and personal welcome. A real entertainer and an entrepreneur. Then he gave us a lift to the ferry!! Julie the housekeeper gave us everything we wanted and looked after us. A home from home.
