객실 관련 팁: We booked via Expedia, got a very good rate & upgraded to a superior deluxe room.
When we arrived at the hotel, it was clear from the outside there were renovations going on that we hadn't been told about...I will be honest, my heart sank as I saw the scaffolding & plastic blocking the city views thinking that knowing my luck, our room would be one of the rooms stuck behind that!! I needn't of worried. We were shown by concierge into a beautiful office that is the main reception where you book in & were informed that we had been upgraded to a 2 room suite on the 3rd floor with city view. They ask for a 100 euro per night deposit/block via credit card for incidentals. We only have a debit card so asked whether we could pay in cash & that was fine.
We were shown to our room by Marvin (Concierge) & I have to say, I jumped up & down with delight (after he had left the room of course!) The room was stunning. Not only that, but we had a complimentary bottle of Prosecco, chocolates & a spa set waiting for us, not to mention rose petals on the bed & other little touches. (I mentioned in the booking form it was a belated honeymoon)
I read reviews on here after I booked saying it was dated, definitely not a 5 star, a ghost hotel, rude staff etc. This is my overall opinion:
1) If you want a brand new hotel, do not stay here, the Doubletree Hilton is across the road. However, if you want something different, quirky with character then this is the hotel for you. The rooms were clean & to a high standard, the bathroom was beautiful & the toiletries were high end (this maybe because we had a 2 room suite)
2) Personally I thought it deserved it's 5 star rating. It wasn't a ghost hotel where you didn't see one person from one day to the next.
3) The staff were extremely friendly, answered any questions with a smile (& not a forced smile) but they were not over the top. Nothing was too much trouble for them & they always said hello.
The free wifi was of a good speed & the free mini bar & Nespresso was a real bonus.
We ate one night in the bar and the food was delicious, however, I did feel 25 euros each for breakfast was expensive, especially when you can walk 1 street away & have a nice breakfast for between 5-10 euros.
Other things to mention: The bed was so comfy & the pillows were of good quality. The bedding felt like Egyptian cotton, it was very nice indeed. Robes & slippers were provided, the bathroom was stocked with more than enough towels & were not the size of a postage stamp or as rough as sandpaper. There was also a nightly turn down service.
We went to the spa one afternoon & we were the only ones using it. When you book in, you are given a voucher for a reduced rate 30 minute massage which I didn't take up unfortunately. The jacuzzi was the same temperature as the pool, so it could of been warmer, but the spa was very nice.
Would I recommend this hotel....YES
Would I stay there again....DEFINITELY!
